Created as a dedicated space for connecting and communicating with the Norse gods, this one of a kind altar combines a blackened deer skull with a cedar altar covered in Connection to the Gods staves.
The deer skull is hand painted with the Connection to the Gods stave, while wooden cutouts of the same stave cover the backboard. The altar includes a platform at the base for placing a candle, incense, offerings, or other ritual items.
The Connection to the Gods stave was designed using nine Ansuz runes. Ansuz is associated with communication, wisdom, divine inspiration, and the gods, making it fitting for a stave intended to aid in connecting and communicating with the Norse gods.
The use of nine Ansuz runes within the stave is intentional. Nine is a significant and recurring number throughout Norse mythology. The Nine Worlds are connected through Yggdrasil, and Odin hung from Yggdrasil for nine nights before gaining knowledge of the runes. Nine appears repeatedly throughout Norse myth in connection with gods, ritual, journeys, and cycles. This significance is why nine Ansuz runes were incorporated into the construction of the stave.
