At the center rests a blackened elk skull marked with the Nine Helms stave. The Nine Helms is a compounded protective symbol associated with layered warding, strengthening defenses, and redirecting harmful intent. It is preserved in the Icelandic manuscript LBS 2413 8vo, dating to the early 1800s. Placed within the altar, it acts as the anchor point of the entire working structure.
