Built from cedar and genuine deer jawbones, this altar combines protective Icelandic magic with a stave designed for connection to the Norse gods. The jawbones feature the Nine Helms of Awe. These are a set of nine galdrastafir recorded in the 18th century Icelandic magical manuscript Lbs 2413 8vo. The symbols are hand painted across the blackened jawbones and engraved throughout the cedar backing.
