This blackened partial cow skull features a hand painted red depiction of Yggdrasil inspired by the Överhogdal tapestries. These Viking Age textiles were discovered in Sweden and date to around the late 10th or early 11th century. Their intricate designs preserve imagery associated with Norse mythology and the beliefs of the Viking Age.
Yggdrasil is the sacred World Tree in Norse mythology. Its branches and roots connect the Nine Realms and represent the interconnected nature of all existence. Yggdrasil is also associated with Odin, who sacrificed himself upon the tree for nine nights to gain knowledge of the runes.
This piece can be incorporated into Norse pagan altars, ancestral offerings, and rituals centered on spiritual growth, wisdom, and connection to the Nine Realms.
