This shirt features Yggdrasil along with animals connected to it in the Norse texts.
At the top sits the unnamed eagle described in Grímnismál, positioned high in Yggdrasil’s upper branches. Below it run the four stags (Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór) known for feeding on the Tree and moving through its branches, tied to its constant cycle of wear and renewal.
Running between them is Ratatoskr, the squirrel who carries messages and insults between the eagle above and Níðhöggr below, keeping tension between the upper and lower realms active.
Also included is Heiðrún, the goat who feeds on the foliage of Læraðr. From her flows the mead that fills the drinking horns in Valhalla.
At the roots lies Níðhöggr, the dragon/serpent that lives in Niflheim, gnawing at the Tree and feeding on the corpses of the dead.
