Common pagan ritual tools

In Paganism ritual tools, objects and talismans are used during ritual to honor the God's and to work magic. By using these items you will be able to direct energies to perform certain actions that will vary ritual to ritual. Your tools will vary depending on your own personal practice, what you're comfortable with and what items you prefer using. Not everyone will use the same items in ritual. What's important is to simply follow your intuition.

THE LIST OF COMMON PAGAN RITUAL TOOLS:

ALTAR

Your altar will be the center of your ritual workings and is a sacred space. No one altar is alike as everyone will have different preferences on what items they keep on their altar. Many altars will change depending on what rituals the person is working on at any given point and time.

ATHAME/RITUAL BLADE

The athame is a knife or blade that can be used for blood sacrifices and  is commonly used to draw a circle around the ritual space. It is also used to harvest herbs you will use within your ritual practice.

OFFERING BOWL

Your offering bowl will be used to give the God's offerings. This can also be used to store smudge sticks, incense and other consecration tools. While many use a Chalice for water on their altar you can also use a food-safe offering bowl for a more multi-purpose approach.

INCENSE

Incense serves many purposes. You can use it as an offering to the gods, for mediation, cleansing rituals, and many will have medicinal properties if they are naturally made or wild harvested.

For burning incense at your altar, you will also want an incense dish!

CANDLES

Candles can be used for meditation, for focus, and are one of the most significant tools in Paganism. You can use every different color or scent of candle for a different ritual.

TALISMANS

A talisman can be any object you consecrate to use in ritual. From engraved wood, bone, a statue or larger ornate items. Commonly, these are used in ritual and later given as an offering once a ritual is complete. Some talismans will be used as more permanent items on an altar.

FIRE SOURCE

A fire source is always needed for pagan rituals. For lighting candles, incense, and burning offerings to the gods. This can be a ferro rod, matches, or a lighter.
