This box is handmade of Pine and perfect for altar spaces to store ritual tools. On the top of the box it is engraved with a beautiful Vegvisir, viking ship petroglyph and Veldismagn stave. Please keep in mind that the color of box may vary slightly due to the wood stain.
Veldismagn is an ancient Icelandic magical sigil meaning 'to give power and strength' ('veldi': power; 'magna': to strengthen). Traditionally drawn out in blood on the chest, it was used for protection, luck, health, and the safe return from travels, so that "Nothing evil will harm you, and whole and healthy will you come back home, whether travelling by land or sea".
A Vegvísir is an icelandic stave intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. The symbol is attested in the huld manuscript, collected in Iceland by Geir Vigfusson in 1880 (but consisting of material of earlier origin). A leaf of the manuscript provides an image of the vegvísir, gives its name, and, in prose, declares that "if this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known".
The petroglyph of an old viking ship have been found from bronze age artifacts within Scandinavia.
