Vegvisir/Ægishjálmr triple candle holder

This item is made to order. Please allow us 1 week to create this item before shipping.

This candle holder measures 12 x 3.5 inches.

It is made from a beautiful piece of Pine and stained black ebony.

I've adorned the top of the holder with a Vegvisir and Ægishjálmr using a wood burning tool.

The wood burnings and wood grain will vary from the candle holder pictured. While they are all very close to being exactly the same since I burn them all free hand there will be slight variation. The wood grain holding the stain will also be slightly different due to knots and the natural wood used.

The Helm of Awe or Helm of Terror (Ægishjálmr) is an Icelandic magical stave. A physical object called "Helm of Terror" is referenced as one item Sigurd takes from the dragon Fafnir's hoard after he slays him in Völsunga saga.

A Vegvísir (Icelandic 'sign post' or 'wayfinder') is an icelandic magical stave intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. The symbol is attested in the Huld Manuscript, collected in Iceland by Geir Vigfusson in 1880 (but consisting of material of earlier origin).
